AVIATION OIL ANALYSIS by Staveley Services Fluids Analysis brings you a state-of-the-art oil analysis program designed specifically for aircraft owners.  Oil analysis is an early warning system that reduces downtime, lowers maintenance costs and helps spot trouble before it gets serious.  By performing oil testing on a regular schedule, you are aware of your engine’s internal condition, which helps you locate excessively worn parts and predict potential failures.  AOA also offers microscopic chip evaluation and analytical ferrography to determine the metal constituents that may be wearing in your aircraft.  These tests help pinpoint the type of machine wear occurring and possible sources.  If you notice chips in your screen or your filter please do not hesitate to contact AOA for assistance.

Price of each kit includes a mailing cylinder, pre-addressed mailing label, sample bottle and information form.  If processing of oil shows a potentially dangerous situation an immediate telephone call is made to the customer.  All samples are processed within 24 hours of receipt.  The AOA oil analysis kit can be used for any type of aircraft, helicopter or oil wetted system (i.e. engine, main rotor, tail rotor hydraulic, etc).

OIL … Your engine’s lifeblood can reveal its internal condition.

When two or more moving parts touch, there will be friction resulting in microscopic wear from metal particles, which remain suspended in the oil.  When a sample of this oil is processed, the amount of suspended metal is revealed in parts per million. Identification of the nature and quantity of these metals helps to determine excessively worn parts and can predict failure long before the problem would otherwise appear.

Why Use Oil Analysis?

Oil analysis is an early warning detection system which:

  • Reduces downtime – allows for scheduled maintenance and repairs
  • Lower maintenance costs – allow you to maintain your equipment in a fix before failure mode
  • Helps spot trouble before it gets serious – microscopic evidence of metal changes in the oil

How it Works

Sampling procedures are simple.  You can purchase prepaid sample kits from one of our distributors or by calling 1-800-445-7930 (AOPA members only).  Kits consist of a pre-stamped mailing cylinder, sample bottle and information form.  Place the oil sample and the completed information form in the provided pre-paid mailing cylinder and the kit is ready to be placed in the mail.  After arrival at AOA’s laboratory, your sample is tested with 24 hours.  If your sample tests critical, we will contact you immediately.  Easy to understand test results are returned with the aircrafts complete history for reference.  To be effective, oil analysis should be an integral and regularly scheduled part of your overall maintenance program.

AOA Knows Your Engine’s History

  • We keep permanent history files on all aircraft.
  • We keep updated histories of all engines.
  • A copy of the complete history and current laboratory evaluation is sent with each analysis report in an easy to understand format.
